Restoring A Full MongoDB Backup

A restore of a full MongoDB backup is basically a copy of the offline MongoDB data files created by the MongoDB Fullbackup to the online location. To do so:

  1. Make sure that the running MongoDB is configured the same as the offline backup was in terms of folder structure, security, binary version etc.

  2. Stop the running MongoD service

  3. Replace the actual data directory with the offline backup

  4. Start the MongoDB service
